Interesting night, almost died or something!

We were driving around in my buddies SR20 swapped S13 hatch totally not drifting at midnight at an undeveloped neighborhood or anything and when we were driving home a terrible thing happened.

We were driving along on a 45mph road at 45mph when out of nowhere the hood unlatched and flew up. That moment happened within a few milliseconds and in that time I clenched the top of my head with both hands and shoved my face as far down in to my knees as I could, just in time too because instantly after I got a shower of broken glass all over me. I though it was the windshield but it ended up being the sunroof. The windshield wasn't even cracked, not a mark on it.

We limped it back to my house after we bent the hood somewhat back in to shape and took the hood off, vacuumed all the glass out of the car and our hair, and he went on his way. Crazy, if that would have happened on the highway or in a busier area someone could have been hurt or worse. And instantly after it happened we both, with our heads still down, said "Are you ok??" Glad my initial reaction was to make sure my buddy who was driving was ok. All in all we wrecked the hood, hood brackets/hinge things, and the sunroof, he said it was a good excuse to get a carbon fiber sunroof plug and hood.

Also my car got a new name, Versace Stretch Limo.

Fun fun. I know a guy with an 86 whose windshield—last time I checked—was only held down at the bottom.. he could push it ajar from the inside.

He lives about 30 minutes away and we were in my area at the time so his hood is in my garage, I'll take a photo of how it bent tomorrow in the light.

Had the hood latch break on my car once on the freeway...yea windshields are really strong. There wasn't a crack in mine either but the hood and hinges were messed up.
